1. CONTEXT OF MISSION

With 2,5 million clients, AG Insurance is leading the Belgian Insurance market. We distribute our products via banks, brokers and Employers (through employee benefits), each having its own commercial and operational policy.
The Employee benefits application (e-Benefits) proposes products of Branch 21 and Branch 23. Usually based on risk assets (shares, bonds, etc..), the branch 23 insurance product is qualified as “risky investment” instead of saving, a life insurance of branch 23 being linked to one or several investment funds.
We are searching for a senior technical designer to strengthen the development team, lifting the team’s technical capabilities and contribute to installing a new architecture. Within the period of the mission, our waterfall based methodology will be complemented with a more agile and test driven approach.

  1. Linq (to SQL)

Functional experience

Preferable

  •  Functional Analyst knowledge for IT projects

3. OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB

You will have the following responsibilities:

  • As Senior Technical Designer, you implement functional requirements according to the analysis in close cooperation with the team’s functional designers, following rules and standards used into AG Insurance.
  • As the application will evolve to a new more flexible and performant architecture also more externally connected, you participate actively to the setting in place of this architecture guaranteeing no deviations are done in team deliveries
  • As Senior Technical Designer, you verify occasionaly (through peer reviews) the deliveries of team members to ensure adherence to programming best practices in current and new architectures
  • If necessary, you participate in specifying technical solutions for new functionality required by the business.
  • You actively participate to estimate the development cost of a work requests and projects.
  • You test the functionality that you deliver using unit testing and insure a good quality of the code.
  • As senior technical designer, you facilitate other less experienced team members in their day to day job, also insuring that they respect the technical choices and standards set for the application domain. (Peer reviews, coaching focusing on quality, performance and continuous improvements)
  • As the development methodology will evolve, you will advocate the introduced changes and be an ambassador for making this a success, using previous experiences acquired in the passed on agile/test driven development.
