Description

About the assignment

Can you build financial integrations that still reconcile to the cent after a million transactions? Do you prefer a clean, standard implementation to a pile of custom code—and do you know when to break that rule?

D’Ieteren Energy is replacing its charging platform with AMPECO as the new CPMS. Odoo is already in place and remains the ERP and billing engine; the challenge is to integrate AMPECO with Odoo and secure robust financial flows: rating, invoicing, payments, roaming settlement, accounting and reconciliation.

You will work within the Odoo implementation workstream, alongside the Business Analyst – Finance & Billing, the Finance team, our integration partner and the CPMS provider.

What will you do?

You are both a hands-on developer and a functional sparring partner for the financial scope:

  • Configure and develop the Odoo modules that carry the financial flows: invoicing, accounting, contracts and subscriptions, analytic accounting, payments and dunning.

  • Build and maintain the integration between the CPMS and Odoo: master data synchronization, ingestion of rated sessions and CDRs, invoice generation, credit notes, and the return flow of payment and settlement statuses.

  • Develop robust interfaces with the payment service provider, SEPA flows and bank statement imports, including automated reconciliation and exception queues.

  • Design for volume and for failure: idempotent processing, replay and retry mechanisms, deduplication, cut-off handling, clear error states and no silent data loss.

  • Translate the functional specifications into testable, documented code – and challenge those specifications when a standard Odoo capability does the job better than a custom development.

  • Guard the standard-first principle: minimize customization, document every deviation and keep the upgrade path open.

  • Write automated tests, participate in code reviews, and support the CI/CD and deployment pipelines across development, staging and production environments.

  • Set up monitoring, logging and alerting for the financial interfaces so that failed batches are detected before they affect Finance operations.

  • Contribute to technical design decisions on the target architecture together with the IT and architecture teams.

Who are you?

  • You have solid, demonstrable experience as an Odoo developer, with several implementations of recent Odoo versions behind you, including Odoo 18.

  • You master Python, the Odoo ORM, PostgreSQL, XML views and the module development framework; OWL and front-end customization are a plus.

  • You know the Odoo accounting and invoicing modules from the inside – journals, taxes, payment terms, reconciliation, multi-company and multi-currency setups.

  • You have real integration experience: REST APIs, XML-RPC / JSON-RPC, webhooks, queues, ETL and file-based interfaces, in environments where volumes matter.

  • You work with Git, automated testing, CI/CD and containerized environments as a matter of course.

  • You understand enough accounting to hold a conversation with a controller and to spot when a technical design would break the books.

  • You are a functional sparring partner, not only an executor: you ask why before you build, and you flag the consequences of a design choice.

  • Experience in high-volume transactional or usage-based billing environments – e-mobility, energy, telco, payments, SaaS – is a strong advantage.

  • You work autonomously, document your work in a structured way, and are comfortable operating in a multi-partner project environment.

  • You are fluent in English; a good command of French or Dutch is an advantage.

Why this assignment?

  • A greenfield CPMS integration: you build the new financial flows between AMPECO and Odoo rather than maintain a legacy charging-platform integration.

  • Technically substantial work – high transaction volumes, multiple external systems, real-time and batch flows, strict auditability requirements.

  • Direct access to business stakeholders, supported by a Business Analyst and a Finance team with strong domain expertise, ensuring that specifications are grounded in operational reality rather than being a simple wish list.

  • A fast-moving market at the intersection of mobility, energy and technology, with a platform that is meant to scale for the next decade.

  • Concrete impact: what you build invoices thousands of customers and settles with dozens of roaming partners every month.

Practical information

  • Type of engagement: freelance / consultancy assignment (self-employed or through a consultancy company).

  • Duration: 5 months, starting November 2026, with a possible extension depending on the project roadmap.

  • Workload: 5 days per week.

  • Location: D’Ieteren offices in Kortenberg, with hybrid working – on-site presence expected during design sessions, testing and cutover phases.

  • Daily rate: to be proposed, based on experience and seniority.

  • Selection process: CV screening, an interview and a technical deep dive into Odoo and integration design.
