Description
The SAP FS-PM Functional Migration Consultant/Developer is a highly specialized role responsible for planning, designing, developing, and executing the migration of legacy policy data into the target SAP FS-PM system. This position requires a mastery of the FS-PM data model, exceptional attention to detail in data mapping and transformation, strong ABAP development skills for migration tools, and a comprehensive understanding of insurance business processes.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Consulting & Configuration
- Analyze Legacy Systems: Conduct detailed analysis of source system policy data structures, business rules, and historical policy events.
- Data Mapping: Define and document complex data mapping rules between legacy fields/values and the target SAP FS-PM data model (e.g., Policeman, Journal, Participants, Coverages).
- Policy Lifecycle Simulation: Ensure the migration methodology accounts for the correct re-creation of policy states and history using FS-PM’s Business Processes and Time Model.
- Functional Specifications: Design and document detailed functional and technical specifications for all required data transformation and validation logic.
- Integration Checks: Coordinate with FS-CD, FS-CM, and FS-RI teams to ensure alignment of migrated financial and claims data.
Development & Execution
- Migration Tool Development: Develop, enhance, and maintain custom ABAP programs, using tools like msg.AIM, LSMW, SAP BODS, or BAPIs (specifically for FS-PM), to perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
- Validation & Reconciliation: Develop sophisticated validation routines (pre- and post-load) and perform rigorous data reconciliation with source systems to guarantee migration accuracy ( accuracy is the goal).
- Error Handling: Design and implement robust error logging and handling mechanisms to manage and correct migration exceptions efficiently.
- Migration Cycles: Plan and execute multiple migration test cycles (Mock Runs) leading up to the final Go-Live migration, analyzing performance and optimizing migration run-times.
- Debugging: Perform advanced debugging of FS-PM standard processes and custom migration programs to resolve complex data-related issues.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Expert knowledge of the FS-PM data model (Policeman tables, journal structure, time model). Deep understanding of migration strategies (e.g., Big Bang vs. Phased). Experience using FS-PM-specific migration BAPIs/APIs.
- Strong proficiency in ABAP/ABAP OO for data manipulation and mass processing.
- Experience with ETL/migration tools (e.g. msg.AIM, LSMW, Data Services) and techniques for high-volume data loading
- Expertise in data mapping, transformation logic, and reconciliation reporting. Meticulous attention to detail regarding data quality and consistency checks.
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 3+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in SAP FS-PM, including deep knowledge of its functional configuration and data model.
- At least 1-2 full lifecycle implementation experience involving significant data migration into SAP FS-PM.
- Proven experience in both functional analysis of insurance products and ABAP development for ETL processes.
