Description

1. Doel van de functie

De Federale Politie bouwt aan een nationaal Expertisecentrum voor C UAS, XR & Robotica, ter ondersteuning van politie, Defensie, Douane en andere veiligheidsdiensten.

As a Game Development Programmer at XR Labs, you will play a crucial role in the development of XR simulators designed to train and prepare our personnel for a wide range of scenarios. Your expertise in Unity and strong programming skills in C# will be instrumental in creating high-quality, realistic and effective XR training solutions for these critical organizations.

De medewerker wordt toegewezen aan DTO – Innovatie en maakt deel uit van het XR-kernteam binnen het Expertisecentrum.

De functie:

  • Rapporteert functioneel aan het XR-Lab.
  • Werkt nauw samen met programmeurs, 3D artists, projectleiders en operationele eindgebruikers (DSU, SFG, GPI, Douane…).
  • Werkt in multidisciplinair kader met Defensie, Douane, Brussels Gewest en academische partners.

2. Taken en verantwoordelijkheden

  • Unity development: Develop, implement, and maintain XR simulator systems and mechanics using Unity and C#, ensuring they meet the specific training and simulation requirements of special forces and the police.
  • Coding: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient C# code, and implement debugging and optimization techniques to enhance XR simulator performance for training and simulation.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the end users, as well as artists, designers, and fellow programmers to create XR simulators that authentically simulate the situations and challenges they face.
  • Game Mechanics: Implement core XR training features, interactive XR elements, and XR scenarios that accurately reflect real-world scenarios encountered by special forces and the police.
  • Performance optimization: Identify and resolve issues to ensure smooth and efficient XR training operation across different XR platforms.
  • Prototyping: Rapidly prototype and iterate on XR training and simulation features and scenarios to refine the training experience.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of XR code, systems, and processes to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team and with our partners.
  • Adaptation: Stay current with industry trends and emerging XR technologies and apply new techniques and tools to improve XR training and simulation development.

3. Profiel

  • Kennis en ervaring (vereist)
    Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Game Development, or a related field
    OR
    Multiple years of proven experience in the industry: candidates without a bachelor’s degree must have several years of demonstrated experience in the industry. A comprehensive portfolio showcasing your work is required.

 

  • Pluspunten
    – Eerdere ervaring met politiediensten, Defensie of andere veiligheidsdiensten.
    – Ervaring met 3D scanning en digitale reconstructie (LIDAR, fotogrammetrie).
    – Ervaring in operationele trainingsomgevingen.

 

  • Competenties
    •    Strong proficiency in C# programming and experience with Unity game development in XR (VR, AR, MR).
    •    Demonstrated experience in the development of games and/or XR simulators for training and simulation, showcased through a portfolio. 
    •    A solid understanding of game design principles and a passion for creating authentic XR training experiences for special forces and the police.
    •    Knowledge of XR technologies, physics, mathematics, and algorithms as applied to XR simulator development. 
    •    Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 
    •    Proficiency in Dutch, French and/or English. 
    •    Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with special forces and police partners and in cross-functional teams. 
    •    Having worked with 3D-scans and the optimisation of it, is a plus.
