We are in search of a committed and meticulous System Engineer to be a part of our Technology Department System Engineer team, composed of around ten members, in Brussels, Belgium. The optimal candidate not only possesses a profound understanding and practical experience with Windows Server technologies, ranging from Windows NT 4.0 Server to Windows Server 2022, but also displays strong leadership qualities including leading, coaching, and mentoring abilities. The optimal candidate should have robust skills in PowerShell, Active Directory, and scripting. Primary responsibilities will involve Windows system management and security (including patching and hardening). Familiarity with other System Engineer domains will be considered an added advantage. This role demands a candidate who can guide and develop the team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, patch and harden the Windows Server environment to ensure high performance, resilience, and security of our infrastructure.
- Implement effective system monitoring and capacity management processes, utilizing PowerShell and scripting for task automation and efficiency improvement.
- Implement and maintain effective patch management processes, including the timely application of security updates and patches using tools such as SCCM, WSUS and Ivanti Security Controls.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of leadership, coaching, and mentoring within the team to foster professional growth and team development.
- Manage Active Directory (AD and ADFS), Group Policies, and other Windows-based services.
- Supervise the tracking and maintenance of operational solutions, creating and maintaining detailed documentation and procedures, and proficiently communicating them to other departments members.
- Remain updated with technical advancements in the Windows domain and play an active role in the introduction and application of new technologies.
- Continuously evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of the implemented security measures, recommending and integrating improvements as required.
Skills
- A minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience with Windows Server technologies in an enterprise environment.
- Proven expertise in Windows Server management, including a deep familiarity with Windows NT 4.0 Server up to Windows Server 2022.
- Perfect proficiency in PowerShell scripting, other scripting system are a strong asset, task automation, and other similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of IT security best practices, vulnerability management, and risk mitigation techniques.
- Proficiency in handling and configuring Windows Server roles and features, aiding in secure and efficient system communication.
- Experience in integrating on-premise systems with hybrid cloud environments.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with a proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor team members effectively in a technical environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French or Dutch, and English, within their area of expertise.
- Analytical mindset, with a strong emphasis on quality, service, and customer satisfaction.
