D’Ieteren Automotive is the official distributor of the Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Cupra, Škoda, Bentley, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Rimac and Porsche brands, as well as spare parts and accessories. D’Ieteren Automotive has approximately 1.2 million vehicles of the VW Group brands on the road, which represents a market share of almost 24%. D’Ieteren Automotive manages a strong network of independent dealerships throughout the country and directly operates dealerships on the Brussels-Malines-Antwerp axis.

General set up

Global Sourcing & Procurement becomes the centre of expertise for dealing with suppliers for addressable spend.  Its activities range from strategic sourcing, category management, overall supplier risk management, setting procurement policies, performing RFx, contract drafting and negotiation, hand-over to the contract managers in the businesses for the day-to-day follow up. 

Global Sourcing & Procurement has a central component resorting under the D’Ieteren Automotive CFO, and a network of Business Procurement Representatives. 

The basic organisational principles are ‘subsidiarity’: performing sourcing and procurement activities at the right place of the organisation, and ‘homogeneity’: we show one face to the supplier world. 

Position Summary

The Category Manager serves as a Procurement Business Partner. 

Capturing requirements, identifying opportunities, intensive co-operation with the internal customers and Procurement colleagues delivering value, in an efficient manner and fully compliant with D’Ieteren Procurement Policy is of utmost importance.

In general, the Category Manager role characteristic is straightforward competitive bidding of projects. Processes can be very complex, as specification are not always that clear and business pressure might urge for vigorous, but always compliant, actions. Main goal for this role is contracting best value, whilst serving the business needs and delivering a compliant procurement project.

Key Accountabilities

  • Procure local vs transversal projects.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Manage the Sourcing to Contract activities.
  • Following categories that can be covered :
    • Facilities
    • Capex
    • Insurances
    • Transport & Logistcs
    • Car Parts
    • Technical Goods & Services
    • Others
  • Ensure compliance to national legislation, ESG standards, and D’Ieteren Procurement Policy.
  • Manage complaints and constructive approach towards claims handling.
  • On incidental basis provide operational support and solve critical procurement problems (second line trouble shooting).

Min Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

  • Education
    • At least a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent through experience) in a related field.  and preferably procurement specific education.
  • Experience: 
    • Proven buying experience 
    • A minimum of 5-10 years working experience in the same field.
  • Additional Skills/Knowledge:
    • Time management and result driven approach in a fast paced and highly demanding environment.
    • Proven analytical skills and ability to synthesize information in a coherent manner.
    • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects.
