General Description
The Data Functional Analyst plays a key role in the development of the data analytics platform for NIHDI (INAMI-RIZIV). He/she is in regular contact with the Business to understand business needs and translate them into data and technical requirements.
The Data Functional Analyst er is part of the Data Office, a central organization providing data services across the different NIHDI business lines. He/she works in an scrum team in close collaboration with the project team: Project Leader, Data Architect, the BI developers and the Business stakeholders.
Roles & Responsibilities
· Serves as liaison between the business and the BI team,
· Facilitate and conduct interviews of end business users to understand their business processes and collect their data related requirements in order to determine functional and non functional requirements for the BI solution.
· Translate business needs into logical and physical data models with appropriate documentation
· Works also with data architects and technical leads to translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
· Collaborate with Business Subject Matter Experts to identify, assess and understand detailed internal and external data sources
· Define and update the Conceptual Information Model as well as the logical models of the domain data warehouses and data marts.
· Map source system to target data model.
· Evolves models to meet new and changing business requirements
· Validates that data warehouse meets requirements and service-level agreements
· Coordinates prototype reviews and demo’s
· Develops process for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data platform components
· Collaborate with the Data Governance team to fill the data catalog with appropriate business terms definitions.
· Participate in the definition and documentation of the technical architecture of the data warehouse, including the physical components and their functionality.
· Collaborate with various business and technical stakeholders whose support is needed to build or deploy data warehouses, data marts and/or dashboards
· Works with the Project Leader (PL) along the entire project lifecycle to ensure appropriate delivery in an agile and pragmatic approach. Sometimes play the PL role for smaller projects or change requests.
Key Skills
· Minimum 5-7 years of experience in data management and data functional analysis
· Master degree in Computer Science or equivalent
· Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements
· Strong Data modelling experience (conceptual and logical modelling)
· Knowledge of key data warehousing processes and Kimball dimensional modelling
· Understanding of source and target data structures, ETL processes, and products
· Metadata skills
· Experience in visualization and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI and SSRS.
· Experience in Master Data Management and Data Quality Management is a plus.
· Knowledge of the following tools is a plus : modelling tool (e.g. Enterprise Architect), Azure data analytics tools (Azure data factory, Databricks,…)
· Experience in working in an agile project mode is a plus
